Maniac – September 21st
Teaming up for the first time since Superbad, Jonah Hill and Emma Stone will be portraying the lives of two people who find themselves in a drug trial gone wrong. The trailer looks trippy af, and it’s one of the main things I’m quite excited to see this year. The show will also start Jemima Kirke and Justin Theroux.
Follow This – August 23rd
This new docu-series from BuzzFeed will explore what America means in 2018, exploring the culture and strange discoveries they make along the way. Season 1 is available now on Netflix.
The Innocents – August 24th
A modern day Sci-Fi Romeo and Juliet, The Innocents follows two young lovers as they escape their lives and head for London. Hoping to start their new life together, one of them discovers their “ability” to shapeshift. The trailer looks promising, and you can catch series one on Netflix now.
Ozark – August 31st
So I haven’t actually seen the first season of Ozark, but I really need to! The trailer looks insane, and I’m definitely game for getting through the first season this weekend. Fans of this show can watch Ozark on Netflix from August 31st.
Hilda – September 21st
Based on a Comic Book series by Luke Pearson, Hilda follows a blue-haired protagonist as she encounters a host of mystical creatures including giants and elves. Although there is no official trailer for the show, one of the animators has uploaded the video above, giving us a sneak peak of the animation style…
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – October 26th
If like me, you’re expecting something like the 90’s hit classic starring Melissa Joan Hart, you may be disappointed by the Sabrina remake. Originally an Archie comic, the new Sabrina will be set in the same world as Riverdale (hopefully with some cameos) and looks as though it will have a much darker setting to its predecessor. There is no official trailer for the show as of yet, but one of the writers released a teaser above, giving us a glimpse of what’s to come. I’m quite excited about this, and hope it lives up the big name!
Sierra Burgess is a Loser – September 8th
Got a serious lack of romcoms in your life? Then this could be your fix. Branching out from her Stranger Things cameo, Shannon Purser plays a young woman who happens to catfish the man of her dreams by mistake. What ensues is hilarious – I can’t wait to see this! Please let this be the beginning of a new host of romcoms on Netflix.
Nappily Ever After – September 21st
After a breakup, a black woman takes her individuality into her own hands and shaves off her once pristine hair in order to find herself. After finding new love and embracing her true self, she finds a semblance of peace.
Hold the Dark – September 28th
If a dark psychological thriller is what you’re after, then this could be the release for you. Due for release on September 28th, Hold the Dark features Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright as a wolf expert who has promised to help the mother of a missing child who has been taken by wolves…But is all as it seems?
